Tova Hopemark

Actor. Writer. Filmmaker.

Tova loves using humor to talk about stuff that people don’t talk about.

Her debut film - a comedy about being depressed - won Best of Fest (Glass Ceiling Breakers), Best Screenplay (Best Shorts Competition), Best Lead Actress (Best Shorts Competition), and Best Short of New England (Mass Indie Film Fest).

Amy Poehler sponsored Tova’s original show, HEIRLOOM, which premiered at The Tank NYC as part of the International Human Rights Art Festival.

Tova is also the co-creator of BABY BUMPS (Audience Choice Award, YoFi Fest). She is now in post-production for her next project, an awkward comedy about a 30-year-old divorcee who’s struggling to get rid of her wedding dress.

She recently played a mistress to The President (POTUS), a Type A new mom (BABY BUMPS), a quirky cult leader (FROM THE FLESH), a burned out millennial (ALRIGHT ROBOT, Winner: Best Leading Actress), and a grieving mother (HISTORY OF NOW).

Tova is an alum of Harvard University’s Mellon School of Theatre and Performance and Northwestern University’s Interdisciplinary PhD in Theatre and Drama.

She writes weekly essays about filmmaking here.

She lives in NYC with her husband and his well-behaved cello. She is a retired national champion of ultimate frisbee.
